Relationship Matters

One of my greatest takeaways from last week was God’s great reminder that relationship matters.  Our relationship with Kidz Konnect 4 Jesus is going on three years old now.  It is a partnership approach to missions and God reminded me the great value in the partnership.

So often the mission opportunities our kids have are isolated or remote.  They give money to something they never see.  They visit somewhere they never go again.  Even as adults, often our trips turn into one time events that are beneficial and God uses in great ways, but we miss the power of relationship.

God works in us and through us best through relationship.  He didn’t send Jesus for a one time connection with us.  He sent Jesus to form a relationship.

One of the beautiful parts of this trip was seeing kids that we met last year and seeing what God had done in their lives, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  We could see the fruit of the efforts of our partner missionaries and of the efforts we have made as a church.  We could see with our own eyes that God had used our church and our kids ministry to help make a tangible difference in the lives of these kids.

And more importantly, our kids could see it.

And you know, this works at home too.  God works through us forming relationships with people who are far from them and helping them find Him.  God works through us building relationships with each other and spurring each other on to grow closer to Him.

So, beyond opportunities, seek relationships.  Seek relationships where your kids can see God work over time.  Seek relationships where God can use you as He seeks and saves the lost.  Commit to the long term and see the big time fruit that God brings about.
