People I Really Like: Amy Fenton Lee
It is only in the past couple of years that I have learned the power of kidmin networking. I wrote some about that here. I’m in a place in my ministry now where I absolutely love meeting new people and learning as much as I can about who they are and what God is doing in their ministry.
What is even better than meeting people is meeting people that I really feel a connection with. It is more than just liking what they have to say, but I really like them. I like them so much I want you to like them too!
I was so excited when I had the opportunity last week to hang out with Amy Fenton Lee. Amy writes for lots of places, and her most well-known blog is The Inclusive Church. She has a unique voice in kidmin world. Her emphasis is special needs ministry which has always been important to me. She is not on staff at a church and never has been. She has been a heavily involved volunteer and is a parent. I am very impressed her very thorough research and in-depth understanding of her fields of interest, particularly special needs. Her insights, particularly about finding special needs ministry were wisdom that I needed to hear. I like people who exhibit much wisdom!
It is very obvious that kidmin is her passion and she lives and breathes it. That is a heart I can connect with! What humbled me was that I approached the dinner with such awe and a list of a million questions to ask her, but her passion was overflowing so much that she asked me a million questions first. 🙂 I consider Amy an expert, but she wanted to learn more than I did. I like people who want to learn too!
Sometimes it is really hard to discern in blog world if bloggers are in real life who they present themselves to be online. I’m thrilled to tell you that Amy is genuine, passionate about ministry, and most important, very fun! If you can’t tell, I really like Amy Fenton Lee and am so thankful for our new friendship. 🙂

I have been reading her stuff too, and she seems fantastic! What a neat opportunity to meet and talk with other cool people! The awesome thing about networking is that we really understand each other and can all learn so much from each other!
